Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy where a small group of individuals meets regularly under the guidance of a trained therapist to discuss and explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In this setting, participants have the opportunity to share their struggles, receive support, and gain insights from both the therapist and other group members.
The benefits of group therapy for participants include:
-
Supportive Environment: Group therapy provides a supportive and non-judgemental environment where individuals can connect with others facing similar challenges. This sense of belonging can reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

-
Interpersonal Learning: Group therapy offers opportunities for interpersonal learning and growth. Participants can learn from others' experiences, perspectives, and coping strategies, gaining new insights into their own behaviour and relationships.

-
Feedback and Perspective: Group members can offer feedback and different perspectives on each other's issues, which can lead to increased self-awareness and personal growth.

-
Social Skills Development: Group therapy helps individuals improve their social skills, such as communication, assertiveness, and conflict resolution, as they interact with others in the group.

-
Normalization: Sharing experiences with others who have similar struggles helps individuals realize that they are not alone in their challenges. This normalization can reduce feelings of shame and stigma.

-
Cost-Effectiveness: Group therapy is often more cost-effective than individual therapy since the therapist's time is divided among several participants.

Can't make it in-person for a session?

Telehealth (or telemedicine) is a fairly recent innovation. Telehealth allows the facilitation of health-related services to clients via live video conferencing. Thanks to modern technology, just about everyone has a smart phone or tablet capable of video chat. If you have social anxiety or phobias that cause you to avoid social interactions, Telehealth makes it easier for you to get therapy.
