Welcome, I’m Amancia Young, a trauma-informed counsellor-in-training in Ottawa supporting adults navigating Immigration experiences, culture shock, trauma, identity struggles, burnout, and major life transitions. My practice is especially welcoming to immigrants, newcomers, first-
generation professionals, and individuals who appear “strong on the outside” but feel overwhelmed internally.
In our work together, we'll use approaches that work best for you personally, to help you understand your story, regulate your nervous system, and build a future with intention and confidence. My lived experience across cultures and institutions allows me to meet you with humility, warmth, and deep understanding.

I offer a steady, warm presence and hold space gently but with intention, supporting you in tuning into your body, your emotions, and the stories that have shaped you. Together, we’ll make sense of experiences at a pace that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

My approach is collaborative and relational, meaning I’m not here to judge, fix, or direct your life! Instead, I walk alongside you as we explore what’s been influencing your present and what you’d like to shift moving forward.

In our work together, you can expect a balance of insight and action, emotional depth and grounding practices. I bring honesty, compassion, and care shaped by my own experiences as an immigrant, a survivor, and someone who has rebuilt her life more than once. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel safe, empowered, and increasingly aligned with the person you’re becoming.
Outside Of Work...
Outside the therapy room, I strongly believe in living a life that feels nourishing and fun. You’ll
often find me in the pool. Swimming is my happy place and the closest thing I have to
meditation. When I’m not in the water, I’m probably planning my next trip. I love discovering
new cities, new foods, and new ways people create meaning in the world.
I’m also that friend who loves hosting dinners. Give me good music, a table full of food, and my
favourite people, and I’m in my element. Laughter, storytelling, and community fill my cup in a
way nothing else quite does.
When time permits, I volunteer with youth programs. Supporting young people energizes me,
and it’s one of the ways I stay connected to purpose and community.
These moments, movement, travel, connection, and giving back, keep me energized and joyful,
and I bring that same steady, playful, human energy into my work with clients.
